The Hudson River gorge begins just below the confluence of the Indian River. During the high water of spring it offers the whitewater rafter 16 or 17 miles of Class IV and V rapids. During summer months, with lower water flow, the rapids diminish to class III. Blue Ledge is a spot in the middle of all this mayhem where the river widens and slows giving the rafter a chance to relax.
