By the whim of the original namers, this is where it all starts. Indian Pass Brook (entering image at upper left)
is dammed about 200 yards up stream of this view to create Lake Henderson.
Calamity Brook enters the image just right of center on the top of the
image. The two brooks join here to form the Hudson River (leaving image
at the bottom of the frame). Down stream in a mile or two the Hudson is
joined by the Opalescent River. If the person who drew the first map had
decided that the current Opalescent was the bigger stream at the junction—
the Hudson might start closer to the highest source waters at Lake
Tear of the Clouds.
